Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker is a 2019 film directed by J.J. Abrams, and written by Abrams and Chris Terrio, based on a story by Terrio, Abrams, Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow. It is the third and final instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the ninth and final part of the Skywalker saga.
Use of Aurebesh
Resistance pilot life vests
The life vests of the Resistance pilots read "PULL TO INFLATE". (The text is upside-down, to make it easier for the pilot to read.) This can for example be seen when Snap Wexley reports to Leia about the raid at the Festival of the Ancestors.
Cold weather jacket
The sleeve on the cold weather jackets worn by Rey and the other heroes on Kijimi reads "O2". This can be seen, for example, when Rey gets up after fixing D-O's wheel aboard the Bestoon Legacy.
Finn's quadnoculars
Minuscule Aurebesh text is seen at the bottom of the display of Finn's quadnoculars, which he uses on Kef Bir and during the Battle of Exegol. Some of the characters are indecipherable, while the rest do not appear to have any actual meaning.
Resistance data screen
When the Resistance picks up the transmission from Rey's X-wing, a data screen says "AA-569" (note that the transparent screen is seen from behind, so the characters are mirror-inverted).
Resistance flight helmets
Poe Dameron's flight helmet has "ROÆHAL" stenciled onto it. This is best seen when Snap Wexley warns him about the incoming TIE fighters during the Battle of Exegol and Poe responds, "I see 'em"; and during a voiceover by Palpatine when he says to Rey, "And you lead them here". The inscription is a reference to "Ro & Hal", the sons of costume designer Glyn Dillon.[1]
At the end of the movie, when the Resistance is celebrating their victory, immediately after Beaumont Kin hugs Klaud, there is a shot of two Resistance members talking, one of which is wearing a white flight helmet that says "[obscuredBREY" and "GD".
Trach's sleeve
The cuff-title on the sleeve of Commander Trach (the officer who declares his shock that the Resistance group is using animals rather than speeders) says "CRO[obscured]". Curiously, this does not match any of the known cuff-titles of the First Order.
Resistance coveralls
When the Resistance is celebrating their victory at the end of the movie, some of them are wearing coveralls that say "GLD" (short for Ground Logistics Division).
Unseen Aurebesh
A set of photos posted by Phil Szostak, the Creative Art Manager at Lucasfilm, on Twitter, reveals that "LC", short for "Lando Calrissian", is printed, in Dishabesh, an alternate Aurebesh font, on one side of Lando's helmet when he is disguised.[2] However, this cannot be seen in the actual film.
